Create a Sacred Space

About the Course: “Just as a farmer needs to prepare the ground before he plants his crop, so we need to prepare our mind before we can hope to harvest a crop of spiritual realizations.” – Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche

Setting up a personal shrine helps us create a scared space in our home, in our life, and focus our energy for spiritual practice.  It prepare our mind for meditation. We will explore the meaning of the symbols and sacred objects, as well as the practices of water offerings, prayers and prostrations. No experience necessary. Everybody welcome.

Learn to Meditate

About the Course: Meditation practice creates positive states of mind conducive to happiness. This course is perfect for those new to meditation or those wishing to reboot their practice. We will explore basic meditation techniques that allow us to experience inner peace. We’ll focus on the two major obstacles to successful meditations: mental wandering and mental sinking.

The Practice of Mandala Offering

About the Course: To create good fortune & spiritual realizations, we should offer a mandala every day. ‘Mandala’ means ‘universe’. When we offer a mandala to the holy beings, we mentally transform the universe into a Pure Land filled with precious objects and inhabited by pure beings. Imagining we hold this pure universe in our hands, we offer it to the enlightened beings.

Understanding the Law of Karma

About the Course: Understanding karma can help us change our life for the better. Karma is a special instance of the law of cause and effect whereby our actions are causes and our experiences are their effects. Virtuous actions are the cause of future happiness and non-virtuous actions are the cause of all future suffering.

In this course we can learn how to abandon non-virtuous actions and how to purify past non-virtuous actions to prevent their effects from appearing in the future. We will also learn how to engage in powerful virtuous actions that lead to the supreme happiness of enlightenment.

About the Course: Heart Jewel contains 2 practices through which we can overcome obstacles to our meditation practice and create favourable conditions so that we can nurture and increase our spiritual realizations.  If we practise this regularly and sincerely, we will reap a rich harvest of pure Dharma realizations, and eventually come to experience the supreme joy of full enlightenment.

In this day course, Buddhist nun and Teacher Kelsang Rigma will guide us through this beautiful practice, which is the very essence of the New Kadampa Tradition of Mahayana Buddhism.
