We want to be happy all the time, even during sleep.  How can we do this?  We can do this through training in meditation because meditation makes our mind peaceful, and when our mind is peaceful we are happy all the time, regardless of our external circumstances.

In this new series of classes, discover simple yet profound meditations that can be practised by anyone and that help us to experience inner peace and mental clarity, and help us to increase our love and compassion for others.  These classes are perfect for those who wish to build the foundations of a successful meditation practice.

All our online events are open to either anyone who would have booked to attend in person under normal pre-pandemic circumstances or residents of Manitoba.  For a centre near you, click here.

You will need an email address and a phone, laptop, tablet or computer on which to watch the class. By accessing this service, you agree not to share the link, not to watch with others who have not bought the ticket, and not to record any part of the audio or video class.

Booking will stay open until 30 minutes after the start of the class. You will receive a link by email to join the live-streamed class.

Please email registration@kadampa.ca if any questions or difficulties.

The first three classes will introduce three forms of breathing meditation that help to calm the mind, reduce stress, and give rise to an experience of inner peace and wellbeing.

May 13 – Inner Peace: This is a basic breathing meditation that helps to disengage the mind from the busyness of everyday life and create a special feeling of inner peace. When the Mind is peaceful, we naturally feel happy, contented, and relaxed – and this has a positive influence on everything we think, say, and do.

May 20 – Pure Light: This meditation combines mindfulness of the breath with visualization, or creative imagination, and leads to a deep feeling of inner calm and purity.

May 27 – Inspiration: This is a very special breathing meditation that combines mindfulness of the breath with the recitation of mantra. It produces many good results. It calms our mind and causes our distracting conceptions to subside, giving rise to a special feeling or inner peace and purity. It also strengthens the life-supporting wind (prana) at our heart centre and thereby increasing our lifespan and protecting us from premature death.

The following three classes will introduce meditations that help us to experience mental clarity and inner peace by meditating on our mind itself.

June 3 – Body of Light: This meditation lays the foundation for meditating on the mind by helping to temporarily overcome physical appearances. It also helps to relax the energy channels and balance the inner energy winds upon which the mind is mounted.

June 10 – Clarity of the Mind: This meditation will help us understand the location, nature and function of our mind through direct experience.

June 17 – The Root Mind: This meditation will help us deepen our experience of our root mind, which is located at the heart chakra in the very centre of our chest. Its nature is clarity – an empty-like space and it is the root of all our awarenesses. Through understanding the nature and function of our root mind, we can keep a clear and positive mind, even out of meditation.

The following three classes will introduce meditations that help us develop and maintain a kind heart, greater peace of mind and happiness, and help us to improve our relationships with others through learning to cherish others.

June 24 – Cherishing Others: This meditation will help us to develop pure cherishing love, considering the happiness and freedom of others as truly important.

July 1 – Taking Away Suffering: This is a practical meditation on compassion, which is a sincere wish to protect others from suffering.

July 8 – Giving Happiness: This is a practical meditation on wishing love, which is a sincere wish to give pure happiness to others.
