Retreats

What is a Retreat?

During a retreat we reduce our normal daily activities and concentrate for a period of time on developing our peaceful minds and spiritual qualities – finding happiness from within. Everyone is welcome to enjoy these special opportunities.

Below are our upcoming retreats. They vary from only half a day to an entire week and are suitable for beginners. All retreats include guided meditations with a qualified Teacher and sometimes brief prayers.

* All our online events are open to either anyone who would have booked to attend in person under normal pre-pandemic circumstances or residents of Manitoba.  For a centre near you, click here. *

Online booking will stay open until 30 min. after the start of the course. You will receive a link in the confirmation email to join the online event.  Please email registration@meditateinToronto.com if any questions or difficulties.

We usually try to find some stability and refuge from our unpleasant feelings by surrounding ourselves with people and things that make us feel secure, comfortable and happy. Unfortunately, these things are not permanent and they often let us down.

In this meditation retreat, we will discover that only the 3 Jewels, Buddha, Dharma and Sangha, are reliable objects of refuge because they have the power to protect us permanently from the sufferings of this life and our countless future lives.

The Secret to Happiness

Session 1: 2.00 – 2.45 am

Session 2: 3.15 – 4.00 pm

Session 3: 4.15 am – 5.00 pm

“All the suffering there is in this world arises from wishing ourself to be happy. And all the happiness there is in this world arises from wishing others to be happy.”  – Shantideva

We consider our feelings and happiness supremely important, while rarely considering the feelings and happiness of others. This attitude is the root of all our suffering. Cherishing others solves all our problems. By viewing others as important and cherishing them, we will develop harmonious relationships, which is the secret to happiness.
