Feb 6: Benefits of Meditation

Meditation makes our mind calm and peaceful. We need to learn to control our mind. So much of our stress, including our health problems, comes from our mind. Just by doing breathing meditation 10-15 minutes a day, we will be able to reduce this stress. We will experience a calm, spacious feeling in our mind. 

Feb 13: Happiness or Misery? Your Choice

Even with modern technical progress, there is no less suffering in the world today, and there are no fewer problems. Happiness and suffering are states of mind. If we want to be truly happy and free from suffering, we must learn to control our mind.

Feb 20: Inner Peace

Inner peace, or mental peace, is the source of all our happiness. Although all living beings have the same basic wish to be happy all the time, very few people understand the real causes of happiness. Further, without inner peace, outer peace is impossible.

Feb 27: How can we develop & maintain a peaceful mind?

We can develop and maintain a peaceful mind by transforming our mind from negative states into positive states. This class introduces pure spiritual practices that will enable you to learn to do this. Liberation from suffering cannot be found outside of the mind; therefore, we need to understand how.

Roberta has been practicing Kadampa Buddhism since 2003. Although she now lives in Winnipeg (returning to Manitoba after 30 years in Ontario), she has been a senior member of the Kuluta Buddhist Centre (Kingston) Foundation Programme for many years.
