Things to know about your stay on the retreat

The Venue

The address of where the retreat is held is:

Five Oaks 1 Bethel Road, Paris, ON N3L 3E3

Getting there and back

Car

From Highway 403 take the Rest Acres Road exit (exit number 27).

Proceed south on Rest Acres Road to Bethel Road.

Turn left to travel east on Bethel Road which brings you directly into Five Oaks.

Train

Via Rail Canada provides frequent trains to Brantford station at 5 Wadsworth Street.

Check VIA’s website for schedules and fares.

Taxis can be hired at the train station for transportation to Five Oaks.

Paris Taxi can be reached at 519-442-7873.

Bus

The closest bus station is the Brantford Transit Bus Terminal on 64 Darling Street.

Both Greyhound Canada and Go Transit can provide you with schedules and fares at their websites.

Taxis can be hired at the bus station for transportation to Five Oaks.

School buses can be booked in advance for larger groups by contacting Sharp Bus Lines at 519-751-3434.

Airplane

The closest major airport to Five Oaks is John C. Munro Hamilton International Airport, followed by London International Airport, then Toronto Pearson International Airport.

Transportation from the airports to Five Oaks can be arranged by calling AIRLINK in advance at 519-756-1944.

PLEASE NOTE: There are no rides organized. You will need to make your own arrangements to get to and from the venue.

Upon arrival

CHECK IN time is after 3pm on your day of arrival

Upon arrival at 5 Oaks, you will be issued with a pass.

You will need this for entering the building and sessions over the course of the retreat.

You can check in to your accommodation any time after 3pm on the day of your arrival.

Registration opens on Thursday December 30th at 3pm.

Please bring proof of full COVID 19 vaccination and photo ID

Please try to arrive 20 minutes before each session.

Social distancing is in place and you will need to wear a mask at all times apart from eating or drinking.

Upon departure

CHECK OUT time is before 11am on your day of departure

Meals

We are catering the meals ourselves and will be offering them in two sittings.

Please only arrive at your designated meal time.

No food or drink allowed into the meditation room. 

Drinking alcohol and smoking or the consumption of any illegal drugs or intoxicants is not permitted anywhere on the site.

Laundry

Laundry facilities are available during your retreat in the Chalet and the Peace House.

It is free to use the washer and dryer but you will need to bring your own laundry soap.

Café, Shop and Offerings at the retreat

Our shop with Tharpa books and gifts will be open between sessions and we will have a café open with coffee, tea and baked goods.

A selection of offerings will be available to purchase for the empowerment/tsog puja.

There will be ten opportunities to make tsog offerings during the retreat.

You will be able to pay using cash, credit or debit cards.

Audio recordings

Audio recordings are available to purchase for the introduction and commentaries.

Please note: Recordings are for the sole use of the registered recipient and should not be shared.

You must have attended the sessions to buy recordings of them.

Audio recordings are for the teaching sessions only and do not include the empowerment or the retreat sessions of Part 2 and 3.

Cancellations and Refunds

Refund Policy: Please read the following information carefully.

After Dec 15th 2021 you will not receive any refund if you choose to cancel your booking.

After this, all fees are non-refundable and will be donated to the International Temples Project.
