Public Talk ~ Happiness from a Different Source

Happiness from a Different Source ~ How Meditation Changes Everything

Public Talk with International Buddhist Teacher Gen Kelsang Chodor

" If our mind is peaceful we will be free from worries and mental discomfort, and so we will experience true happiness; but if our mind is not peaceful, we will find it very difficult to be happy, even if we are living in the very best conditions. If we train in meditation, our mind will gradually become more and more peaceful, and we will experience a purer and purer form of happiness. Eventually we will be able to stay happy all the time, even in the most difficult circumstances." - Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche

Meditation is an actual scientific method for developping authentic and long-lasting happiness through developing the capacity of our mind. In this Public Talk, we'll see how happiness and unhappiness have their origins in the mind itself and, therefore, by transforming our mind, we can transform our experiences.  This talk is especially suitable for those with a scientific interest in the human mind.  No previous experience of meditation is required.  Everybody welcome!

This Public Talk will take place at the Ontario Science Centre. *FREE Parking*

Public Talk: How to Be Happy

Ancient Buddhist Wisdom for Modern Times
with International Teacher & Buddhist Monk Gen Kelsang Samten

When things go wrong in our life and we encounter difficult situations, we tend to regard the situation itself as our problem. But, in reality, whatever problems we experience come from the mind. If we were to respond to difficult situations with a positive and peaceful mind, they would not be problems for us. Indeed, we may even come to regard them as challenges or opportunities for growth and development. Problems arise only if we respond to difficulties with a negative state of mind. Therefore, if we want to be happy all the time and to be free from problems, we must maintain and develop a peaceful mind.

The ancient wisdom of Buddha's teachings gives a refreshing perspective that encourages us to look at life differently. We can solve daily problems, find real inner peace and enjoy deep happiness from practicing these time-honoured meditations and transformative ways of thinking. This talk is open to everyone, Buddhists and non-Buddhists. Everyone is welcome!
